What is WVCH?

Marion Polk Community Health Plan, LLC. (MPCHP) was created in May 2001 by the WVP Health Authority, a locally owned physicians group. The physician group developed the new plan at the encouragement of the Governor’s office solely for the purpose of delivering the Oregon Health Plan in Marion, Polk and Yamhill County. The plan’s service area is mainly Marion and Polk counties but it does cover specific zip codes in Linn, and Clackamas counties where members may be better served within Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties due to travel limitations.

In August 2012, WVP joined with 11 other community partners to form Willamette Valley Community Health (WVCH)

WVCH is a new type of health plan called a Coordinated Care Organization (CCO) with a goal of meeting the triple aim for our Medicaid members, to provide better care at a better cost to obtain better health outcomes for our community. It was developed following the guidance of the Coordinated Care Organizations from the Governor’s office and the Oregon Health Authority and went into effect Aug. 1, 2012. It is a group of all types of health care providers and community partners who work together for people on OHP in our community. The new plan is set up so that anyone who provides care — doctors, counselors, nurses — will be better able to prevent illness and improve care. Instead of just treating patients when they get sick, CCO providers can work with patients to keep them healthy and better manage existing health conditions.
